If you don't want to spend any time organizing music, then iTunes is the application you should try. It sorts your entire media library automatically and it gives you immediate access to Apple's iTunes Store. iTunes is also the primary means of managing data on iOS devices. It comes preinstalled on Mac OS X and it is available for Windows platforms as well.

The application's controls make it quite easy to browse through a media library and to manage its contents. Media files are imported automatically from a default library folder and from one or more user-defined locations. Songs, movies and TV shows can be viewed and managed separately. You can view all files of the same type in a single list or browse through albums, artists or genres, on separate tabs. Playlists can be created instantly on their own tab and you can populate them on the fly. It is also possible to create smart playlists, which are populated automatically with songs that meet user-defined criteria.

Music, movies, TV shows and other contents can be accessed through a drop menu, in the upper left corner of the interface, which can be replaced with a sidebar, to make navigation much easier. If you connect an iOS device to your Mac, it will show up on the sidebar, along with several options, for accessing its music, pictures, apps and other contents, synchronizing them, backing up the device and much more.

Besides managing media files on your Mac or iOS device, you can also access the iTunes Store and download new music and apps. Contents from the iTunes Store can be downloaded to the local libraries or directly to an iOS device. This makes it easier to find and install new apps for your phone or tablet.

Pros

Media files are imported and sorted automatically. The application gives you the possibility of managing data on iOS devices. Also, it give you access to the iTunes Store and it enables you to download music and apps directly to your iSO device.

Cons

The application's controls may get a bit confusing when it comes to synchronizing or backing up connected devices. From playing music to managing data on iOS devices, iTunes makes everything easier and more comfortable.
